2022 Latin American Space Challenge

2022 LASC Overview

The Fourth Annual LASC was held from August 5th to 7th, 2022, with the event held entirely in the Cape Canavial launch area. The 2022 LASC reached records with the participation of 1,607 students and enthusiasts and the number of rockets that had at least one launch attempt also made history: 20 rockets went through the complete chronology until the activation of the ignition system.

The event accepted 70 projects: 51 rockets and 19 satellites from 10 countries, which were evaluated, tested and launched at the Cape Canavial.

The Latin American Space Challenge's Rocket Challenge grew 104% from 2019 to 2022, reaching 51 rockets evaluated. Comparing with aerospace engineering competitions such as the Spaceport America Cup, European Rocket Challenge (EuRoC), Launch Canada and Base 11 Space Challenge, LASC is the second largest on the planet in terms of number of projects and launches.

The Satellite Challenge, created in 2020, took place for the first time in person as an experimental tryout (beta phase), reaching 19 satellite projects evaluated during the event.
