2020 Latin American Space Challenge
2020 LASC Overview
The 2020 LASC has been structured to take place onsite with the addition of a new category of 500 meters apogee in the Rocket Challenge to encourage new incoming teams. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, and always focusing on the safety and security of everyone involved, the event was adapted to occur as an online version: the 2020 LASC Online and at no cost to the teams.
In 2020, LASC was the only rocket and satellite engineering competition to take place online across the globe.
From the adaptation of LASC to a virtual format with a hackathon structure, a greater incentive was then given to the teams to increase the robustness of their technical reports and increase the reliability of a future practical project.
New categories for the development of payloads were created to encourage the development of these technologies: the Satellite Challenge.
In addition to presenting technical reports and scientific articles related to rocket and satellite projects, teams were also challenged to develop a solution to a problem proposed by LASC in the hackathon that replaced rocket launches and satellite tests.
